Changes.....

At this point, do I have anyone reading my blog....since I'm blogging about once a year. Well with all the changes in my life I feel it is necessary to change things up here too. My new blog is The Green Farmhouse.   It is very plain and boring, I can't wait for Tricia to work her magic! I'm working on some new items for my new online shop.

Bring on 2014!

Well this is our last day of our Christmas break. I have enjoyed being at home and spending time with the family. But I'm ready to get back on our normal schedule...I'm just weird like that. Here is a glimpse of how we spent the last couple of weeks.

Christmas came a bit early for Ken. She got a new puppy. Her name is Lexi and is a great addition to the house. So far she has been a great dog. We have always had bigger dogs so this little baby has been way easier than I was expecting.

We had a couple of steer shows to go to. By we, I mean my sister's family. But we always tag along. Only a couple of months then we will be getting our very first steer for Kendie.

Lots of baking was going on.
Christmas pictures out at my parents...just so you know my parents don't live in a barn.

Christmas Eve is always spent with my family. Church, then out to my parents were the fun begins. Food, presents and lots of games.
Ken was a little under the weather on Christmas morning. But you can't really tell when she was opening her presents.

The last few years I have tried to avoid New Year's Eve altogether . I was alone and well just kind of sad. One New Years I was in bed by 8:30 and turned my phone off. I really didn't want to hear about anyone having fun. But this year it was different. Not that I need a man to make me happy but I felt alone. Everyone had someone but me. I had dated, but it didn't go so well....I'll have to save that for another post.  Finally, in March I met someone. Well, we have known each other since we were 16. And thanks to my sister and the Houston Livestock show we found each other again.  He just fits and Kendall and I couldn't be happier.

This year my sister was suppose to have a party. But she had to have a procedure done on the 31st. So we took her girls and had our own little party. Fireworks, firepit and smores and being surrounded by the people I love! What a great year to bring in the new year.

I tried to take one of those cool pictures....you know the one. And this is how it turned out. Taking better pictures is one of my resolutions for the year!

Wishing your family all the best in 2014!

Christmas {2013}

Welcome to my little farmhouse! It's been a couple of years since I've done a Tour of Homes. So grab a cup of coffee and take a look around!

I just love the look of those full tree's. But I don't have a ton of ornaments so that mesh wire ribbon really helps. I have a tendency to change my decorations up every couple of years. But I've stuck with the red, lime green and white for a while now.

One thing I always do is get those plain wooden ornaments that you can get at Hobby Lobby paint it and put a picture of Ken in it. Over the last 8 years its so funny to see how much she has changed.

The manger scene always goes under the tree. My Grandma did it and we do too. This is my Great Grandma's.

So a couple of years ago we had a Christmas tree that broke. So I've put the old branches to good use.

Some of my Santa collection. This is my make shift mud room area. I managed to crop out all the backpacks, lunch boxes and the stuff that is dropped by the back door as soon as we come home.

Of course, Elfie has made his appearance. He has done some naughty things. Like, drew a Rudolph nose on Kendie while she slept.

Thanks to Pinterest, I got this idea. We try to do something everyday, but if not we make up on the weekends. This is our first time to do a advent calendar and its a big hit.

I hope you enjoyed my house! Merry Christmas form our home to yours!

Junk

Every Spring and Fall here in Texas they have a antiques week in a small town. Every year I say I'm going to go. And every year I don't. But this year was my year. We loaded up the car and took the 2 hour drive to this road basically in the middle of nowhere that  I've heard so much about.  Oh my! my friends didn't lie to me....this little 2 way street was awesome! If you want it, chances are good they have it here...somewhere.

This picture does not do Round Top justice. This is just a small portion of what you will find.

Then we drove down the road to

Junk Gypsy store, I was a little star struck when we pulled into the parking lot to find the dad helping park cars! I really wanted to take a picture but I was told I would look like a crazy if I did. I have been a fan way before they were on HGTV. We use to go to their tent sale in College Station.

It's been a while...

Well folks, it has been well over a year since my last post. What a whirl wind it has been!  Look at what we have been up too the last year....

Kendie's 1st day of 1st grade
 Ken's and her BFF....inseparable these 2!

The county fair is a big thing around here and to us. Ken won showmanship for steers and a tri color ribbon for baking.

We took our trip up to the pumpkin patch in Medina. Love it up there!

Before we knew it the Holidays were here

Stockshows start up....my family's favorite part of the year.

When Spring sprung we took some day trips. We went to Enchanted Rock. The weather didn't cooperate in the morning but when the clouds burned off the weather was beautiful!

Did I mention....I'm TERRIFIED of heights?

Before we knew it the 2012-2013 school year was done.

And the long days of Summer were here

I graduated from beauty school exactly 1 year from my start date.  Some people are there for years. Some of my beauty school buddies.....

Then back to school shopping was happening  for 2nd grade.

Kendie's 1st day of 2nd grade

So that is our year in a very small nut shell. Now that things have settled down a bit. My goal is to share more on here. I love reading old posts, looking at old pictures of things we have done. This year was possible the hardest and the happiest all wrapped up into one....crazy the way that happens sometimes. So excited to see what is in store for us!

Insta Friday {Last week of School}

Last week of school. At the beginning of the school year I was a little nerves of all the changes we had going on. It has been a great year and I couldn't ask for better teacher's for Kendall. Now, it's time for a little relaxation. No practices or games, meetings we have to go to. Breakfast at 6:45 in the morning. For the first time I will savor these Summer day because they are going to go by fast.
Getting her home run trophy for the Spring season

A terrible picture but this is our end of the year lunch. I have only worked with these ladies a year and I am really going to miss them!

The Best Kinder teacher's! They have made this year a breeze!!

The dual Kinder class of 2012

At my niece's graduation, the Goebel kids are waiting very patiently for J to come down the stairs.

J walking across the stage. Big things are going to happen for this girl! Next step Texas A&M!!

For some reason I have a big gap between pictures so keep scrolling down....

Last time my baby is getting out of the car as a Kindergartner....

My cousin came into town from Kentucky on Friday ( that sounds so hillbilly) so we had lunch at Granzin's

Only in Texas can kids eat on saddle bar stools.

Then off to do a little shopping...and ice cream eating.

 Hello 1st Grade....Goodbye Kinder!

Pretty much sums up the last day of school....

Insta Friday

This little pool had been my friend this week. At the Y they are doing a lazy mans triathlon. So I've been a fish this week. Good thing is my tan is awesome!
Enjoying a little afterschool snack at Orange Leaf
End of the Season  T Ball pizza party....missing about half of the team in this picture.
This is a terrible picture but it's the only one with almost everyone in it. These women are my co workers and some of the dearest friends I could ask for. We have all been through some tough situations and we huddle around each other and pray and on occasion go get a drink together. This week I said goodbye to them and my little MDO classroom that I have had for the last 3 years. As I get ready to set out on a new adventure.

                                                                           Field Day

My baby rocked the bubble hop!

She will probably kill me in a couple of years for this picture. This was at the "pass the cup" station. Her class won!
