Honey Bars

My husband's mom always makes these bars and they are so good! Almost all the ingredients you have on hand. My father-in-law has bee's so they always have a ton of honey around. So these bars have become one of our families favorite little treat.

Honey Bars

3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
1 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together until evenly blended. Press into a well-greased cookie sheet pan. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Vacation's Over

We are home from our coast trip and to tell you the truth I am glad. It's so fun to go on vacation but it always nice to come home and sleep in my own bed, take a bath in my own shower...you know that sort of thing. We had a great time, the first couple of days where rough, Hurricane Dolly had something to do with that. Thanks Jim Cantore! When we woke up on Tuesday morning and turned on The Weather Channel their he was reporting from Port A. But it came and this is the worse it got...sorry to disappoint.

While we were couped up in the condo for a day the kids made a "clubhouse" in the room downstairs played all sorts of card games. I kicked some you know what in a very fun game called spoons. Sorry I don't have a picture of that I was to busy grabbin my spoons! (if you know how to play the game than you get that)

Than the rain stopped and thank god because I don't think we could stand to be in that house one more day. We went to the beach, the kids flew some kite's, splashed around in the pool and I got reacquainted with vanilla vodka...come on I was on vacation, that is some good stuff!

Favorite Friday

One of favorite things about being a mom to a 2 1/2 year old is you NEVER know what is going to come out of there mouth! K has found my wedding shoes and being the glamorous 2 year old that she is, she loves to wear them around the house.

The other day she was telling me that one day she was going to get married to Wyatt (her little friend) and wear beautiful wedding shoes and a big wedding dress and a head band with a curtain on it. It took me just a second to figure out what she was talking about and then I said, "Oh, a veil". When we are at her rehearsal dinner I think I might tell that story.

Painting Pottery

My sister and 2 other friends went to a pottery painting place (say that 5 times fast) today. The kids had so much fun. We made a huge coffee mug and a cute plate to put in the kitchen.

Everyone except me and Gretchen...look at all those zebra purses, wonder were you can get one of those?

Notice the mess ALL around her

K's master piece (the colors are dull now but after they fire it they will be sage green, pink, yellow and light blue)

Poor Aunt Jodi

If you watch Jon and Kate plus 8 and need something to read for a while read this! I really like the show and yes, Kate can be a little harsh sometimes but WOW this makes me think of her in a whole new way.... I think I'll pretend I didn't read it.

4th of July Festivities

WOW we have had a busy couple of days! Friday morning we woke up and headed down to the plaza and watched a very patriotic 4th of July parade, which was lots of fun. Than went to go see our family that was in from Dallas. J's cousin Kelly just had her 3rd boy and is so cute...makes me think of having another one. Than off to our family tradition of going out to eat and than sitting for 2 1/2 hours in our fireworks spot so no one will take it (we do have a great spot). The fireworks were good but didn't last as long as they normally do. J counted 13 minutes. 13 minutes and we wait for 2 hours!! But the kids had a good time. Than we still had one more party to stop by but traffic/Ken were so bad (we sat in the same place for 30 minutes) we said forget it, let's go home.

Yesterday we had a family reunion to go to. Which is funny to see, all my Dad's generation is almost all boys and then our generation is a mix and than our kids are almost all girls. The kids went swimming as we ate. I love going to reunions for the food...and seeing family. Then to make up for not going to our friends party (we felt really bad about that) we invited some of our friends over. I think today we are going to lay low and definitely take a nap!!

This was are conversation as we were getting ready this morning...

Ken: No, Momma actually I'm bossy!

Oh, indeed you are little girl. What is she going to be like when she's 16?
